Union Cooperation Secretary Visits Omfed Headquarters; Assures Central Assistance
Union Cooperation Secretary Dr. Ashish Kumar expressed satisfaction over the progress made by Omfed in milk production and value-added dairy products during his visit to the Omfed headquarters at Saheed Nagar on Thursday.
Addressing a high-level review meeting, Dr. Kumar said that Omfed has created a new chapter in the dairy sector of Odisha through its consistent growth in milk procurement, processing, and product diversification. He appreciated the organization’s efforts in adopting modern technology to produce high-quality and hygienic dairy products.
Among those present at the meeting were Mr. Siddharth Jain, Joint Secretary, Department of Cooperation, Government of India; Mr. Rajesh Prabhakar Patil, Principal Secretary, State Cooperation Department; Mr. Mukesh Kumar, Director, Central Cooperation Department; Mr. Vijay Amruta Kulange, Managing Director, Omfed; and Mr. Siddharth Dash, Registrar, State Cooperation Department.
During the meeting, Omfed Managing Director Mr. Kulange briefed the Union Secretary on the organization’s various products and on-going development initiatives. Dr. Kumar expressed happiness over the increase in milk production in the state, attributing part of the growth to the implementation of the state government’s Mukhyamantri Kamdhenu Yojana(MKY).
He also approved the formation of new cooperative societies under the National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD) in the coming days and assured central assistance for strengthening the dairy cooperative sector in Odisha.
Dr. Kumar emphasized the need to ensure that dairy farmers receive maximum benefits and that government schemes effectively reach grassroots stakeholders
